Montverde Academy of Florida captures third consecutive FAB 50 title by virtue of winning 31 of 32 games on the court against its tough schedule. By closing out its season by winning the Dick’s Nationals tournament in New York, there is little debate the Eagles are the nation’s top team as compared to last season when they edged Mater Dei of California. Montverde Academy, which does not compete for a state title, becomes the first program in the weekly poll era to capture three consecutive mythical national titles.

Two newly-crowned state champions crack the second-to-last GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50 of the 2014-15 season: Homestead (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Creighton Prep (Omaha, Neb.). All state playoffs around the country are now complete with Dick’s Nationals in New York April 2-4 the only games left to be played.

New FAB 50 National Rankings
Four new teams crack this week’s GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, including No. 44 Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio). Teams in the Buckeye State are still going as are the state playoffs in California, New York, Michigan and New Jersey. FAB 50 No. 23 Wing’s Academy (Bronx, N.Y.) is playing in the New York Federation tourney this weekend and, win or lose, will participate at Dick’s Nationals set for April 2-4.

2015 Dick’s Nationals Field Set
Three of the top six and four of the top 10 ranked teams in the Grassroots Hoops FAB 50 boys basketball national rankings will participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods High School Nationals from April 2-4 in New York City. The championship game could potentially be a match up of the nation’s top two ranked teams.

For the second consecutive week, five new teams crack the GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, including fast-rising Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.). There were more state champs crowned around the country over the weekend, but from a rankings perspective the big news came off the court as Georgia Class AAAAAA champ and FAB 50 No. 6 Wheeler was granted permission to participate at Dick’s Nationals in New York in April.

Five new teams crack this week’s GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, including fast-rising Garfield (Seattle, Wash.), which won the Washington Class 3A state title over previously ranked Rainier Beach (Seattle, Wash.). Rainier Beach is one of those teams that could climb back in the rankings if results involving other teams break in its favor and based on which teams are invited — and do well — at Dick’s Nationals in New York to end the season.

Four new teams crack this week’s GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, including fast-rising Etiwanda (Etiwanda, Calif.), which has advanced to the semifinals of the loaded CIF Southern Section Open Division playoffs, where they face No. 7 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) on Tuesday evening. State titles have been captured in North Carolina and Florida with some of those winners and other top-ranked independents eyeing an invitation to Dick’s Nationals in New York at the end of the season.
