All 50 ranked teams written up with explanations for why they were placed in these positions with comparisons to preseason ranking. The FAB 50 National Team Rankings powered by Ballislife.com is the official rankings of the National Sports News Service, which date back to the 1952 season. Montverde Academy of Florida is the 2020-21 mythical national champion, the sixth title for the program since 2013 and the fifth No. 1 finish after starting out as preseason No. 1.

The FAB 50 National Team Rankings powered by Ballislife.com is the official rankings of the National Sports News Service, which date back to the 1952 season. Montverde Academy of Florida is the 2019-20 mythical national champion, the fifth title for the program since 2013 and perhaps its best ever team.

IMG Academy of Florida is the 2018-19 mythical national champion, the first ever for the program and the second ever for a program from the state following Montverde Academy as the Southeast Region continues its dominance.

Remembering Dunbar’s Magical 82-83 Teams

On August 8, ESPN released a 30 For 30 documentary titled “Baltimore Boys” about the special high school basketball teams at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Md. The documentary is about triumph in the face of real-life tragedy and overcoming extreme odds to see four players off the same high school team reach their dreams of the NBA. While the documentary focuses on the humanitarian aspects of the game, we present facts about the basketball team and its on-court performance against the backdrop of this fascinating story about arguably the greatest high school basketball team of all-time.

The Grassroots Hoops FAB 50 is the official rankings of the National Sports News Service, which date back to the 1952 season. Montverde Academy of Florida is the 2014-15 mythical national champion, the first team to earn three consecutive No. 1 final rankings since the advent of weekly national polls in 1975-76.

Remembering McClymonds: Winners of 3 Straight Titles

Montverde Academy of Florida won its third straight mythical national title by virtue of finishing No. 1 in the final 2014-15 Grassroots Hoops FAB 50 national rankings. We take a look back at the first team to finish ranked No. 1 for three straight seasons — McClymonds (Oakland, Calif.), which turned the trick between 1958-1960.

FINAL FAB 50 National Rankings

Montverde Academy of Florida captures third consecutive FAB 50 title by virtue of winning 31 of 32 games on the court against its tough schedule. By closing out its season by winning the Dick’s Nationals tournament in New York, there is little debate the Eagles are the nation’s top team as compared to last season when they edged Mater Dei of California. Montverde Academy, which does not compete for a state title, becomes the first program in the weekly poll era to capture three consecutive mythical national titles.

Updated FAB 50 National Rankings

Two newly-crowned state champions crack the second-to-last GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50 of the 2014-15 season: Homestead (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Creighton Prep (Omaha, Neb.). All state playoffs around the country are now complete with Dick’s Nationals in New York April 2-4 the only games left to be played.

New FAB 50 National Rankings

Four new teams crack this week’s GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, including No. 44 Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio). Teams in the Buckeye State are still going as are the state playoffs in California, New York, Michigan and New Jersey. FAB 50 No. 23 Wing’s Academy (Bronx, N.Y.) is playing in the New York Federation tourney this weekend and, win or lose, will participate at Dick’s Nationals set for April 2-4.

Updated FAB 50 National Rankings

For the second consecutive week, five new teams crack the GrassrootsHoops.net FAB 50, including fast-rising Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.). There were more state champs crowned around the country over the weekend, but from a rankings perspective the big news came off the court as Georgia Class AAAAAA champ and FAB 50 No. 6 Wheeler was granted permission to participate at Dick’s Nationals in New York in April.
