David Ibandzo is the Name to Remember from the 2019 John Lucas International Middle School Combine

The 2019 John Lucas International Middle School Combine, which was held this past weekend at the Drive Nation Sports Facility in Irving, TX, featured an abundance of size (by our count there were 27 players in attendance who are 6'4 or bigger).  And right at the top of the list is 6'10 8th Grader David Ibandzo from Covington, OK, who simply picked up where he left off when we saw him two months ago at the John Lucas All-Star Weekend.

2019 MCDONALD’S ALL-AMERICAN GAME IS HISTORY, BUT TOP PLAYER HONORS IN THE CLASS OF 2019 IS STILL VERY MUCH UP FOR GRABS

More often not in recent years the top individual performances in the McDonald's All-American Game have gone a long way toward determining or reinforcing exactly who should be the #1-ranked player nationally their respective classes.  If you will recall, a year ago 6'7 R.J. Barrett from Montverde (Academy) FL finished with 26 points, three rebounds, 10-14 field goals, 1-2 3-pointers, and 5-5 free throws and was arguably the best player in the game.

It doesn't get much better than the Championship Game in the 8th Grade Division at the John Lucas All-Star Weekend, which was held over the weekend in MI3 Center in Houston, TX.  Not only did the game feature the two best teams in this age group, but it was pretty clear early on that we might have an upset in the making, as the Houston Hoops Blue Chips jumped out to a 20-10 lead.

12TH ANNUAL GLOBAL ELITE EXPOSURE CAMP FEATURED A PLETHORA OF GOOD YOUNG TALENT & A GREAT NAME FOR THE FUTURE (SAM FUNCHES JR)

We attended the 12th Annual Global Elite Exposure Camp over the weekend in Jackson, MS and, although nobody (like Mason Manning did each of the last three years) stepped up and dominated the camp, it was hard not to be impressed with the plethora of good young players who made a strong case for being ranked among the top players in the camp.

It wasn't pretty, as both teams combined to score only 95 points, neither team shot over 33% from the field, and Fairfax (Paul VI) VA only scored a grand total of three points in the entire third quarter of the first game on the final day of action at the 2019 Spalding Hoop Hall Classic, which is being held this weekend at Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College in Springfield, MA.

We pick things up with the second game of the day in the Sunday Session at the 2019 Spalding Hoop Hall Classic, which is being held this weekend at Blake Arena on the campus of Springfield College in Springfield, MA.  And, although Chicago (Whitney Young) IL took charge early and led most of the way en route to a 54-46 victory, the big story here was fact that 6'6 Soph Quincy Allen from Washington (Maret) DC was clearly the best prospect in the game.

Senior Class Nationally is a Major Disappointment & Top Players Honors Still Very Much For Grabs

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.  But, after watching many of the top players and teams in the nation during the last month-and-a-half, I think it is safe to reiterate the fact that the Class of 2019 is really down for a number of reasons.
