Clark Francis

Clark Francis is the Hoop Scoop All-American Camp Executive Director.

 Francis has been the Editor and Publisher of the Hoop Scoop since 1983 and is widely recognized as one of the foremost authorities on high school basketball and recruiting in the United States. Francis graduated from Indiana University in 1983 with a degree in journalism, is a member of the prestigious McDonald's All-American Game Selection Committee, has written a monthly recruiting column for over 20 years for Basketball Times, and also has been published in numerous other places, including the USA Today, Blue Ribbon Yearbook, Sporting News, Syracuse Post Standard, and the Cats' Pause Pre-Season Yearbook. Francis also has been a valuable source for numerous talk shows, newspapers, and magazines and provides a unique perspective, because he's been to every NCAA Final Four since 1973, has attended almost all of the superstar oriented shoe company camps since 1983, and is usually ahead of the curve with his perspective and insight. He also was a pioneer with regards to publishing recruiting information on the internet in the mid-90's and was one of the first to recognize the importance of getting a head start on the future and keeping track of the top players at an early age.


Van ColemanVan Coleman is the Hoop Scoop All-American Camp Director of Operations.

Coleman is a member of Selection and Advisory Committees for the McDonald's All-American Game, USA Today All-American Team, Naismith Players of the Year, Best in the West Team, Slam Magazine All-American Team, Basketball Hall of Fame Morgan Wootten High School Coaches Lifetime Achievement Award.  He is considered one of America's top three talent scouts with over 30 years experience evaluating the nation's top high school basketball talent.  He sees over 10,000 potential student athletes every year and has 150 colleges who rely on the "Hot100Hoops Scouting Services" to identify the top prospects from the USA.  He is the Publisher of the Hot100Hoops.com web site and will be the National Recruiting Director of the XOFan.com Recruiting Network that will launch this spring that will cover what's happening in the world of high school basketball and college recruiting.  He has been the National Recruiting Analyst for CBS TV Sports, Co-Host of "Generation Next" TV Program on CBS College Sports, Prep Editor for Basketball Times Magazine, Publisher of FutureStars Magazine, Executive Director of FutureStars Basketball Camps, and Co-Host of Nationally syndicated "Off the Glass" and "Talkin' Future Stars" Radio Programs; as well as a contributor to Sports News, Sport Illustrated, and Lindy's College Basketball Yearbooks.

 

Brick OettingerCamp Director of Scouting Brick Oettinger writes for both Prepstats.com and the Recruiter's Handbook & was the scout who discovered Michael Jordan in 1979.

 OETTINGER has been the basketball recruiting columnist and analyst for the ACC Sports Journal since 1977, and the national basketball talent evaluator for the Prep Stars Recruiter’s Handbook since its inception in 1991. Additionally, he currently writes for PrepStars.com and for ACCSports.com. Since 1995 he has been a member of the McDonald’s All-American Game Selection Committee. He gained notoriety in 1980 when he wrote about a little known North Carolina prepster, “You probably have never heard of 6-3 Wilmington (NC) Laney High junior wing guard Mike Jordan, but based on what we observed, he has the best combination of athletic ability, basketball skills and intangibles of any high school wing guard prospect we’ve ever seen!” Oettinger’s basketball background includes three years as a starter (MVP as a senior) at Chapel Hill (NC) High, and he also was a member of the University of North Carolina freshman basketball team as well as the varsity tennis team (Class of 1964). Later, as a community volunteer he coached the Orange Correctional Center basketball team for 13 years in the North Carolina Prison League, where his teams won seven state championships, lost in the finals once and in the semifinals twice. Academically, he has a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Political Science from UNC, a Master of Arts from California-Berkeley, and was a Ph.D. candidate in 1968 from UNC. He will provide player evaluations for the Hoop Scoop All-American Camp.
